Begin with a clear summary statement that sets up the paragraph to have a clear and specific subject and purpose. Ie; “In this video, Common Sense Media presents a set of guidelines for parents... The video makes its points in this specific way: [fill in short details.] Transition to evaluation of source material. You can use the source material itself as evidence, such as the tone, organization, professional feel, etc. You can use background info on the author too. Consider the credentials and experience of the creator of this text/video. Do they set it up to be biased? Objective? Some/something you should listen to? Should you be wary of an agenda? Do they seem to have the public interest in mind, or do they seem to be focused on a limited group? Or are they mainly talking to hear themselves? Synthesize your interpretation of the sources. Do you notice any connections between the sources? Do they confirm each other? Contradict each other? Do they remind you of each other in some noteworthy way? Has a “relationship” formed in your mind between this source and the other sources in your bibliography?

In the video, common sense media sets out guidelines for parents to follow in protecting their children from adverts that encourage consumption of fast foods that are unhealthy. The authors have started with identifying the various ways through which these adverts are made. The first guideline is to avoid the ads by using DVDs and watching the websites that kids visit. Secondly is to identify the ads and let the children understand the use of those ads. Lastly, tell the kids about the star factor and their role in the advert. These guidelines are very helpful and are focused towards ensuring kids are not exposed to such adverts.

Pollan, a nutritionist, argues that the kind of foods that are consumed today are no longer foods but food like substances that are not products of nature but products of food science. Pollan believes in natural food substances as the best type of food nutrition. Pollan supports that quality food is food that is cooked naturally without any chemicals. He believes the effects of modernization has resulted in the living of unhealthy life surrounded with chronic diseases out of poor eating habits. Pollan’s arguments are very true and put in its clear perspective.

Schlosser has highlighted on the expansion of the McDonalds business and needs to maximize profit while reducing on labor as the main cause of the change in the way fries were cooked in the early years of the invention of McDonald.
