Relationship between KSA, job analysis, organizational strategy, and HR activities
Human resource department have the mandate of matching employee’s capabilities with the tasks they are required to perform. As such, the HR department needs to thoroughly analyze the job so as to understand the requirements of the job and the level of competency needed to perform the task. While recruiting staff and assigning roles, their level of knowledge, skills and abilities should be referenced to the level of competency required and the most suitable employee should be assigned the role at hand. Doing this ensures that the firm is able to derive maximum return from its employees (Politis 2003).
KSA requirements in the firm
The firm needs technical skills and knowledge to operate effectively. In order to acquire these technical skills, the firm needs to recruit competent and highly qualified employees. These employees can then be used to impart the skills and knowledge to other company employees thus improving the company’s overall level of knowledge, skills and abilities (Staines 2012)
Growing KSA in the firm
Conducting widespread recruitment communications makes it easier for qualified candidates to apply for the vacancies in the firm. This is then followed by thorough interviewing process that seeks to establish the interviewee’s level of knowledge, skills and abilities. After recruiting the most qualified candidate for the task, the firm forms a team around the individual so as to encourage knowledge sharing. According to Zhang et al (2014) knowledge sharing enables the company to access the necessary skills with reduced cost implications while at the same time improving the motivation of staffs that learn new things.
