In this class, I experienced transformative growth that has changed my life in many ways. I had never thought of myself as a reader, I can fathom some author’s work and interpret it in accordance to the context as well as being able to discuss and explain theme, styles, imagery, and different moods of the persona, but the books we read in this class inspired me to read outside of my academic work and it showed me that I can write about literature after all. This is a motivation that will help me to explore  a new field, do through research  and report precisely to expand my knowledge and wisdom for others
Exemplary when I entered the first session of class and discovered that I had to write a paper comparing two pieces in this course, from there on I have been writing as much as possible because when I finally got home, I learned that being surrounded by others who share similar interests and are open to other perspectives has been a positive experience for my intellectual development (Al-Maali, Esra). In our class discussions, we have explored commonalities and differences in how we as individuals approach literature, which has been a humbling reminder of how my perception is just one of many. While I believe these insights have directly impacted my understanding of the world around me and thus shaped my fundamental understanding of the world, the indirect impact on my life has been much more important. Many layers to every piece of literature we study in this class, including intertextual relationships with other works and/or other parts of history or culture as well as cultural subtexts (themes, motifs, etc.) (Bean, Melzer). As a result, I believe this course has prepared me to read more critically and understand how they affect society at large.
This class not only forced me to interact with literature on a deeper level, but it also taught me how to analyze text by learning its themes, style, and how writers conveyed their messages in their writing as shown through the "Art of Writing" course and applying them to the writings of Edgar Allan Poe and William Shakespeare, I believe that their writing styles can be classified as personal, dramatic, journalistic and formal. The author of each piece has conveyed their voice by using literary devices like metaphor, rhyme, and imagery that can engage the reader. These modern writers have inspired me to include additional literary devices such as parallelism in my writing. I enjoyed this course because it allowed us to explore works of art by various artists and authors. In addition, writers reflected their personal experiences through their craft which made reading even more meaningful for me since I can relate with them on many levels (Iida, Atsushi). As a result of taking this course, I became more confident about my writing skills both academically and personally since I am now much more open to discussing my ideas both verbally
