Case of Deidre: Conceptualization of Problem Through Reality Therapy/Choice Theory
To assist people in taking charge of their lives and meet their requirements, reality therapy is founded on a philosophy of research and useful techniques (Berber et al., 2018). Choice theory is based on current motivational theories for human decisions and changes.
Presenting Problem
According to reality therapy and choice theory, Deidre must take charge of her feelings and emotions if she is to go on. She must acknowledge that not everyone will agree with her decision to have an abortion at 18. Due to her mother's mental condition, Deidre also harbors hatred toward her for "pushing her father away." Additionally, she has not adequately processed the loss of her father and needs to accept his passing. For Deidre, I will need to "focus on realistic choices" and "establish a safe therapeutic setting."
