Inequalities in Criminal Justice
The American criminal justice system exists to deal with crimes that are unpreventable and criminals that are not easy to daunt. The justice system is neither monolithic nor consistent. The piecing together of this system over the years and its philosophic core is based on the argument that an individual may be punished if only it is proved beyond reasonable doubt by a deliberate and impartial process that they have violated a specific law. It is only then that the government is eligible to punish such individuals (Neale, 1997). The system of criminal justice in America has developed from this philosophic core with layers and layers of procedures and institutions, some of which have been carefully constructed, others inspired by principle whereas others are expenditiary.
