Instructions:
I would like to start my essay with the definition of total quality management (TQM) According to Investopedia TQM is the continual process of detecting and reducing or eliminating errors in manufacturing, streamlining supply chain management, improving the customer experience, and ensuring that employees are up to speed with training. Total quality management aims to hold all parties involved in the production process accountable for the overall quality of the final product or service. Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management framework based on the belief that an organization can build long-term success by having all its members, from low-level workers to its highest ranking executives, focus on improving quality and, thus, delivering customer satisfaction (Pratt, n.d). TQM requires organizations to focus on continuous improvement, or kaizen. It focuses on process improvements over the long term, rather than simply emphasizing short-term financial gains. (Pratt, n.d).

Based on the articles given in the Schoology I learned that TQM originated in 1949 when the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers formed a committee of scholars, engineers, and government officials devoted to improving Japanese productivity, and enhancing their post-war quality of life. That’s why the organization of production, economic progress, and development of Japan had become so efficient. And as a result TQM became so successful that it turned into a new management model being applied by other nations around the world.
