We believe that we should work to be happy, but could that be backwards? In this fast-moving and entertaining talk from TED x Bloomington “The happy secret to better work” , by psychologist and famous actor Shawn Achor who argues that happiness also positivity actually inspires productivity and a good positive mindset.
He tells us how to be more positive, success, and more average. By him telling us his story with his sister when they were little about her falling and his meaning on positive. It gives us a understanding about positive psychology and the surrounding of the specific topic. It changes how we look at things such as certain situations that occur were we can make them positive and not negative. Which makes us look more into the topic positive psychology that focuses on positive events and nothing negative obviously. Positive psychology's main aim is to encourage people to discover and nurture their character strengths,rather than channeling their efforts into correcting shortcomings.
In Shawn's TED x Bloomington presentation, he says that most modern research focuses on the average. That "if we focus on the average, we will remain merely average." He wants to study the positive outliers, and learn how not only to bring people up to the average, but to also move the entire average up. That was when he was explaining why he studied for happiness at Harvard and mention people can be more happy. He mentions our brain can be more successful if we learn how to be positive by exercising more meditate or even doing random acts of happiness.
