Project management in the contemporary world is shifting from the traditional approach of using waterfall to a much more dynamic and responsive approach called agile project management. Agile project management was developed in order to fit the constantly dynamic business environment that is affected by various factors within and outside of the organisation. (2017, p. 402), the agile approach has grown in popularity due to its adaptability to change and volatility as well as its central focus on customer satisfaction. Operating in volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments has become a part of businesses and thus the need to adopt agile framework has become a necessity. This paper has discussed in an in-depth manner the various elements of the agile framework. The user ceremonies have been determined to be four, namely, planning, stand up meetings, reviews, and retrospective meetings. Agile requirements were similarly discussed and determined to be the specific user stories that need to be achieved by the project team. User stories should contain the source (who), the need (what requirement), and the solution to achieve it (how). Prioritisation of the user stories should also be performed using the MSCW model. Lean tools for project management such as VersionOne were determined as essential tools to help the project team leverage its results. Agile estimating and planning is essential for determining the time frames in ideal days and story points. The bottom up and top down approaches are used in agile planning. Agile velocity was determined to essentially help in understanding the productivity and efficiency of the project team and inspect the feasibility of scaling the project. Scaling a agile framework is necessary in order to tackle more complex challenges and this should be done in a manner in line with the greater organisational goal. Finally, release planning and cadence determines how the semi-finished product is introduced both internally and externally into the market.
