The cases human trafficking reported kept rising and remained high throughout the 2020s. the estimated 400,000 people are currently living in the modern day slavery in the U.S as they are involving in labor trafficking, sex trafficking and debt bondage as well as forced marriage (UNITA). Many people have been subjected to the commercial sex acts such as prostitution because they are forced to do so, as such it induces sex trafficking which involves engagement of the commercial sex acts because the victims are forced (Risley, 2010). It sometimes may occur in the form of coercion in which the individual are forced to persist with the acts of prostitution through the use of unlawful debt or they transportation, or recruitment or even their sale which the exploiters are required to pay before they can be free. It is as well connected with child sex trafficking in which young children are forced into commercial sext act because they are forced to do so. As such they are undergo various issues because they are defenseless and thus are left with psychological issues about their life. This is one way in which the human trafficking has increases in the modern day slavery because it has been found that these individuals that are forced into commercial sex are manipulated psychologically or through physical force because of various factors.

Firstly, in the 21st century women, men and children are still being forces to work in the conditions that are inhuman, for long hours and without pay or little pay. In the historical period, slavery was accepted as the practice of economy but in the modern community, human trafficking is a criminal offense that is punishable. Within the history, slavery systematically involved in exploiting a certain groups of people and focused on string men who could provide for the labor within long hours. But it has drastically change over time such that today, any individual can be a victim of human trafficking regardless of their ethnicity, nationality, gender, economic status and age (Hanna, 2017). It has been found that, traffickers have developed various strategies such as the use of social media and other online platforms. Hanna (2017) further noted that, even use the love and affection as the control mechanisms such that those victims may fail to identify or speak out as the victims of human trafficking. Human trafficking is increasing in the modern as 400,000 people are living in the modern slavery because human trafficking is majorly contributed due to the high reward, low risk dynamic (Hanna, 2017). It explains that the traffickers engage into human trafficking with the expectation of a lot of money without fear of punishment or any other legal consequences.
