This article by Dana Hedgpeth from The Washington Post describes an event where twelve teenagers were charged for being involved in robberies. According to the article, the twelve teens were arrested after it was realized that they were part of the robberies that had happened in Washington, D.C. According to D.C. police, the names of some of the teens were not mentioned since they were juveniles. Their ages ranged between 13 and 17 years old.
The article has given several accounts of the incidents that lead to the arrest of the teens. In one account, 13 and 14-year-old boys were caught by police and charged with robbery with violence. According to reports, the boys had robbed a person walking around at 3 p.m. after pointing a gun at him. This article shows how juvenile delinquency cases have gone up in the state of D.C. In most cases, the culprits were armed during the occurrence of the incident.

This article by The New York times describes a case of a transgender teen who has been sentenced to life in prison due to links to a Colorado School shooting. Alec McKinney, a 17-year-old suspect, was charged in the Douglas District Court as a juvenile. According to the report, Devon Erickson, a 19-year-old defendant, has pleaded not guilty to the allegations despite evidence showing that he had been involved in the shooting. The shooting in context had occurred a year ago and lead to the death of one student and injuries to eight others.
As the report indicates, the court was full of moments of sadness and tears for some, as the teenagers were being judged in the court of law. Some of the suspects pleaded guilty and asked for forgiveness from their victims for the acts they did on that fateful day. For instance, McKinney sobbed in court and apologized genuinely for is acts. He also claimed that he did not deserve less punishment for his actions.

This article by CBC News is on the accusation of a twelve-year-old teen from Texas who has been accused of murder. The boy is said to have allegedly broken into the home of a professional boxer shortly before killing him. If the boy is convicted of the murder, he could face up to 40 years of prison. This is an act that many juvenile advocates are trying to avoid in an attempt to protect him.
Moreover, several legal experts have told CBC News that they believe that this will be among the youngest people to be charged with such a felony. According to the report, capital murder is different from a first-degree murder since it involves a unique situation. According to Mandy Miller, a Houston-area attorney, the murder may have been caused by a robbery by the teen before things turned otherwise. The attorney is said to be working on helping juveniles have their sentences reduced.
