Yes, I concur with the argument that conducting research on minority population should put the population’s cultural context into consideration. This can be attributed to the long held false perceptions that scholars tend to associate with multicultural education. The goals of research and research models should try to assimilate the different identities of a population. I believe the preservation of individual cultural identities is a salient feature in research. Arzubiaga, King, Artciles, and Harris-Murri (2008) argue that the adoption of a situation cultural practice paradigm made it possible for disciplines such as anthropology, cultural psychology, and sociology to be incorporated and integrated into research using unbiased and systematic perspectives.
On the other hand, ramifications of research methodologies must be executed in a critical manner to avoid generalization of research findings and adoption of research definitions that might paint a negative picture to minority groups (Reed, Sorrells, Cole, & Takakawa, 2013). For this reason, cultural artifacts such as customs, values, traditions, and traditions play an influential role in influencing human activity. This assumption means that counsellors can utilize historical and cultural assumptions when dealing with diverse clients. Learning the cultural practices that regulate human behavior helps counselors understand better how to create value and balance among certain groups within the society. Relating the cultural histories of their clients to their situational settings adds value to the delivery of counseling service. Simply put, understanding the cultural aspects of clients enables counselors to design counseling tools and strategies to handle issues involving their strategic clients. Analyzing learning and developmental processes must be situated within the activities of diverse clients in order to allocate maximum attention to their interactions. It also affords counselors with a diverse range of possibilities that they can employ in particular situations.
3.
Arzubiaga, King, Artciles, and Harris-Murri (2008) define ecological validity as the ability to generalize client behavior as a representative characteristic to other variables within the population. This enables counselors to apply individual cognitive processes to research settings. I believe that ecological validity plays a critical role in enhancing value delivery. For this reason, counselors must be ready to engage in situations where they have to deal with diverse clients. Counselors need to employ strategic interventions to handle aspects relati...
