Universal Studios- Where Your Favorite Hollywood Movies Live The story of how the Universal Studios theme park came to be, can’t be separated from the humble beginnings of Universal Studios Hollywood. This great Cinematic Studio was founded by Carl Laemmle. In 1915 he opened up the 230-acre Universal Studios ranch, in Los Angeles, to the public. This offered the visiting fun seekers an opportunity to move about the exterior movie studio, whilst still being able to watch live filming of movies. Then, all visitors need to pay as entry fee was 25 cents with an inclusion of a lunch which cost just an extra change. However, once the silent film era phased out, Mr Laemmle had to shut the doors to the influx of visitors on set, in order to create a soundproof effect during filming. By 1961, Universal had lifted the ban on visitors. He even outsourced their transportation to a certain Grey Line company. However, the same man (Harrison "Buzz" Price”) who helped Walt Disney out with the feasibility study for Disneyland, also did a feasibility study Laemmle too. And he recommended that Universal Studios built its own tram tour service. By 15 July 1964, Universal Studios Hollywood had been finally reopened again to members of the public, who once again began to troop in, in their numbers. At his time, Universal Studios Hollywood started operations with a small staff, which included few tram drivers, tour guides, stunt men. opened with a very lean staff, just a couple of tram drivers, another couple of tour guides, a ticket seller and contracted stunt men for the show. At some point, in order to save cost, members of the tour group were asked to volunteer to play roles in the shows. It wasn’t long before the tour trams had to be rerouted via the backlot, because of challenges with filming schedules. In order to retain its entertainment value as regards the tour, Universal Studios started including attractions such as flash floods scenarios, Red Sea parting (as shown in the movie The Ten Commandments), the Ice Tunnel, and the collapsing bridge.
