Our Universities: Why They Are Failing
American Universities rank high in the global ranking of institutions of higher learning. The schools and colleges in American have the most advanced libraries, laboratories and best working environments for trainers and educators. Despite the enormous fees charged, American institutions have worked to support the education of poor students (Grafton). The universities also pay full fees for postgraduate students. Unfortunately, the wrongs of the American universities erode all the seemingly right steps and appearances. The mistakes are enormous to an extent that they are failing the American Universities.
The American Universities are guilty of promoting social and economic injustices among employees and students. While heads of departments, professors and leaders of games earn millions, the assistances and players only earn thousands. The officials in the universities especially the heads of admissions are promoting unfair acts (Grafton). The officers have the habit of reserving places for children of potential donors, athletes and alumni despite having inferior academic capabilities than other classmates. Professors also tend to avoid face-to-face teachings and make few class visits per week. Most of teaching works remain to the underpaid assistant lecturers.
According to Grafton, American universities and colleges also recruit a large number of employees than the faculties require. The results are many idle workers, despite making schools charge students hefty fees. The curriculum adopted by many universities and colleges do not promote critical and creative thinking as well as innovation among pupils. Learning has been such that students spend less time weekly doing academic works. The universities and colleges in America have failed to exercise sensitivity to the desires of students.
