Bill of Rights and the 14th Amendment
The fourteenth amendments of the bills of a right of the United States constitution were established on July 9, 1868, a part of the reconstruction amendment in the US constitution. It addressed equal rights to all citizens of United States and gave equal protection of the law, including to the former slaves. This was initiated by the constant civil war between the blacks, who went to the US as slaves, and the whites who used to be the masters.
The amendment consists of several clauses, which include immunity or privilege clause, citizenship clause, equal protection clause and due process clause. The citizenship clause provides a detailed definition of citizenship and as well as overruling the Supreme court's ruling which stated that Americans who descended from the African slaves were not accepted as the United States citizens. There was no much change in the privilege clause.
In the equal protection clause, local government officials were required to provide protection to all the citizens in their jurisdiction without favor. This was established to deal with a problem of racial segregations and discrimination within the states and called for absolutely equal protection to all the citizens regardless the race. On the other hand, the due process clause prevented the local government officials from denying a person of liberty, life, or property without legitimate approval.
