Psychology: A Brief Summary of Sapolsky’s Essay
In "Ego Boundaries or the Fit of My Father’s Shirt," Robert Sapolsky noted that individuals will think and at uniquely and distinctively. There is an outstanding encounter with that one may always identify two voices in their mind/ conscious. Usually, one voice is active while another is negative. Sapolsky seeks to explore how various selves inhabit one brain on earth. Still, there is need to establish the distinctive line between the two voices. The emerging concerns then draw attention on whether a single individual may accommodate various personalities or whether different individuals may hold differing perspectives and mindsets. Nonetheless, Robert Sapolsky argues that those are multiple personality and selfhood and seeks to describe them through his encounters, particularly after his father’s death (Sapolsky 2).
Firstly, Sapolsky considers the Steven Hawking’s lecture, where Steven is an extremely renowned astrophysicist. The lecture represents him as one who could not walk by himself and indeed required an interpreter who also played the spokesman role in the class. While observing the Hawking’s behavior and past attributes, Sapolsky considers Hawking’s identity as a metaphor and even brought about concerns over the separation of bodies and consciousness (5). He further indicated Roger Sperry’s try out to ascertain it. Julian Jaynes’ notion that indicates the presence of two bodies in one’s brain.
