Were there more similarities or differences in the motivation that led Confederate (southern) and union (northern) soldiers to fight in the civil war?
Civil war is an organized war between organized groups within the same state or country their aim may be political is to take control of the country or a given region. To achieve the country's independence or to overthrow the government civil wars are highly destructive and result in large numbers of causalities in that state.

The civil war between Confederates and union had different motivations which ware propelled mostly by their leader's speeches, families and also the state itself. This made them result into war so as to prove themselves guilt over the accusations. There are different types of motivation that made confederates and union to result into war;
According to confederates their primary motivation for civil, was to fight for liberty and independence from the tyrannical government which harassed them hence they wanted to get away with it and run their own administration therefore they wanted to overthrow the unwanted leadership . While in unionist side their primary cause of the civil war was a preservation of their nations created by the founders from dismemberment and destruction from their enemies, therefore, they wanted to chase away the intruders and remain with pure state of unionists.
In the southern civil war they were motivated by different matters which they said they were real and tangible and they needed to do away with them, this issue includes, their properties and homes as it was written by Texas 1864.Also, young Alabama soldiers concluded that when southrons home is threatened the spirit of resistance is irrepressible. Which were brought back by blood and tears of their fathers’ .I.e., the soldiers, were fighting so hard to for the liberties which their enemies have so long enjoyed and it was their father blood.
On the Union soldiers wives and their families motivated them by writing g letters to them and telling them that they must fight back their properties since they have the more significant responsibility to their present families than their founding fathers and in response union soldiers commented that their fathers made the country and it was their time as their children to save it.
