Black, White and Jewish is a comprehensive autobiography revolving around the life of Rebecca Walker. The author narrates the life of Rebecca Walker as a child from the first legal marriage in Mississippi. Her mother, an African American, is married to a Jewish man; and the nature of their marriage as an interracial couple is the motivation behind the publishing of the autobiography. Rebecca grows up as a Black-Jewish child who fails to understand why people view her differently, including her father's Jewish family.
