When comparing my current character in life with the characters from ‘who Moved my Cheese’ novel by Dr. Spencer, I draw a lot of resemblance with the mice. Through my life experiences, I learned that nothing in life is constant; hence I should be prepared for any eventualities. I have therefore trained myself always to be ready to adapt to any situation life throws at me. The mice, Sniff and Scurry, had similar characteristics as illustrated in the book, “sniff, Sniffs out change early while scurry…scurries into action…(Johnson, 2015)” a combination of these characters is a definition of my characters. As sniff could sniff for more cheese when they ran out of cheese, I, similarly, can quickly identify new opportunities when my current occupation is hindered. Besides, just like Scurry, I am ready to do anything it takes to adapt to changes.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, my friends and I had a small business that specialized in clothing. The firm, over time, had grown in that we were earning a comfortable profit. However, when the Covid-19 pandemic hit, we were forced to temporarily close the shop as we await further guidance from the government. Initially, I did not look for alternative ways of conducting my business as I thought the situation would be over soon. Besides, the profits I had saved was sufficient to sustain me for some period. As the days went by, however, I realized that the situation might not end soon; thus, I had to find alternative income sources. Therefore, I decided to venture into online marketing where I advertised my products online and delivered orders personally; this has put me back to my feet as demands have increased recently. My character before the pandemic was similar to Haw, where after a while, I had to learn to adapt to the situation, which turned out great. Since then, however, I have changed my character since I learned the importance of preparing and adapting to any eventualities in advance.
