It’s crystal clear that Africa continent has become the sick man of the world. The ideology of unplanned and uncontrolled market forces, privatization and economic dependence of the West has driven Africa to its present catastrophe. ‘Second liberation’ of Africa is the only possible solution to reverse these menace. It means, second reawakening, democratization, unification, independence and self-reliance sustainable development. Most Africans countries are still entrenched in historical and colonial pangs. This has led to a domination of the West countries despite most African countries gaining independence. Colonialism has been regarded as one of the worst crimes against humanity in the modern epoch.
The second liberation of Africa was necessary and continent needed to come together. The formation of AU was a clear indication that the continent was committed to a common goal. The organization was mandated to oversee African’s political, economic and social affairs in the post-colonization era. Colonialization and imperialism were some of the major contributors of this liberation. The end of Cold War presented a new dawn for Africa, the second liberation had appeared. Dictatorial regimes would receive no more aids unless they subscribed to verifiable doctrines of human rights and democracy. One party governments concede and the multiparty system was embraced. These changes ushered in new radical energies within the continent and presenting new paradigms for redefining Africa’s self-image. Rapid integration of the national markets become prevalent, this has brought unprecedented prosperity and freedom. African leadership in global institutions has elevated African profile in the global era; Kofi Annan headed the United Nations (1996-2006).
