Article Review in Human Resource Management
The article in this paper is related to human resource, human resource management and strategic human resource management. The three concepts are related on the employee’s behavior, their working equipment and environment in ensuring that the organization attains maximum performance. The author’s arguments are clearly highlighted for the reader to find relative ease in understanding these concepts. The argument bases on new approaches of the concept of human resource management, human resource and strategic human resource management relative to the old times of managing organizations. The author focuses on a critical analysis of the above concepts in the era of change and uncertainty for the reader to be able to understand such changes. In relation to these concepts, the author has organized the arguments in such a way that the reader can easily point out the concept, follow the concept in relation to the recent changes on the concept as compared to the past happenings on the concept. Similarly, the author gives a comparison between the concepts in recent times and past time before making a conclusion on which argument best serves the concept. The reader can follow all this transition as the author progresses with the argument. Therefore, it shows the high level of organization that the author has employed in his or her artistic work that the reader is focusing on in this article.
The original ideas of the author are presented in a systematic way to the reader. The author has sub-divided his or her paper into three sections. Each section has a sub-topic on which the author is focusing on in his or her argument. For example, the author starts by arguing about human resource, followed by human resource management and lastly, strategic human resource management. The author focuses on each of these sub-topics differently by exploring the key points of that he or she considers important for the reader to understand.
The author has incorporated outside evidence in a number of ways. The author uses the outside evidence to support a specific point in his or her argument. For example, ‘…this is the new normal, an era of constant turmoil and chaos increased.’ The author has used this outside evidence to support his or her specific argument in relation to his or her perception of the current world. Similarly, the author uses outside evidence to focus on the idea, which he offers an original critique (Sims, 67). For example, ‘I noticed, looking at the literature, that this change in business mentality has occurred since the 1990’s, significantly increasing the role of human resources with the advent of the "new economy" (Porter, 1998). "New economy" has culminated in the development of important innovations, the most significant being computers and internet.’ In relation to this quotation, the author has used the outside evidence to present an idea and then offer an original critique.
In relation on how the author uses citation, quotation, paraphrasing and referencing, the author is not consistent on the proper format required for scholarly work. The author uses mixed citations, poor referencing styles, poor quotation styles and paraphrasing of original works while presenting his or her ideas. In the case of quotation, the author does not follow the proper use of quotation marks as he or she places them in the wrong place. For example, the author highlights "…human capital has replaced dollar capital as a strategic resourceâ€. The author puts a full stop at the end of the quotation marks instead of putting the full stop first followed by the closing quotation marks. In ...
