Decision Making Process
As the in-charge, I will evaluate all the seven employees using objective job related guidelines and criteria. However, performance based criteria alone is not enough, as a result, the evaluation shall include other considerations including affirmative action and workplace diversity. The best way of ranking these employees is by formulating multiples systems for rating and ranking (SHRM, 2012). Single assessments such as past performance assessment are weak because they may ignore other important aspects such as the representation of minority groups in the department before and after the layoff, which is an important consideration for Ajax Electric Light considering the threat of an equal employment opportunity suit it had faced in the past.

Employee Ranking according to the Order in Which they Should be Laid Off
1. Nan Nushka: Although she was hired after the affirmative action, she is the second last in terms of seniority. In addition, her performance is average, and she comes from the white race that has already been over represented in the department.
2. Burt Greene: although she comes from the majority race, she is the most senior in the department, which gives him advantage over Nan Nushka. However, her poor performance makes him of less value to the department
3. Joe Jefferson: He comes from the majority race, the male gender is already over represented, and his performance is full of errors
4. Rosa Sanchez: she is the last in terms of seniority; however, she is the only Hispanic woman in the department, which gives her an advantage over Nan Nushka. We assume her performance is closer to that of Nan Nushka who has been in the department for six months.
5. Livonia Long: she is the only black female in the department, she has registered a steady work performance, and she is more senior than Nan Nushka.
6. Ward Watt: though he comes from the majority race (white), he is one of the most senior employees in the department. In addition, he has a good performance record...
