The story begins with Mary Maloney waiting very patiently but still eager to see her husband. When his husband arrives home, he drinks what his wife had prepared for him secretly and made his stronger one. In the end, Mary participates in an investigation of her husband’s case and the men discussing the case have the information she needs (Ajjacks. 2011) p.1.
Dahl has not given the exact time and location where the story started in "Lamb of the slaughter”. His aim was to give a universal setting and time of the story, and that was America during the 1950s. As the story continues, it becomes clear what Mary is thinking is not what we think. The story ends with a classic 50s setting once again, and this helps discover that when all the men are enjoying the dinner prepared by the wife.
