Child development theories are used to show the gradual change of an infant from the time of birth to puberty. In these theories, we get to learn the factors that influence the child's growth rate and also factors that can hinder him/her from developing. Therefore, we consider the social, cognitive, and emotional factors that may hinder the development of a young one. This will influence his/her educational wellbeing in the future and also the tasks the child is involved in daily.
Also, from the study of different child development stages, the baby develops in a series of phases whereby he/she gets to learn at each stage. The environment that the child dwells influences his/her daily performances, thus it can be easily depicted if one keenly observes the baby. Therefore, in this case study, a girl child aged four years is presented with various difficulties which are related with her upbringing.
When examining her, we realized that she could not easily interpret the sign language that was demonstrated to her and responded slowly. Also, she could not speak or ask for help. When looking at how she related with people whom she has never seen, the baby was nervous. She cried and clung to her mother whenever she saw a person not familiar to her. For the past years, the mother explained that the baby stayed only with her. Therefore, she was not exposed to other people apart from her siblings. This child also had issues with her limbs, whereby she could not make any move, and when she spoke, saliva could come out of her mouth.
From the upbringing of this kid, her speech and writing skills were poorly developed due to the poor mind development of the child which is known as cerebral palsy. This is a congenital condition that leads to a child being slow in all developmental stages since she has an issue with brain development. From the normal study, a child has to be fully developed by three years. For this case, this child had only developed teeth at the age of four. She could not even support herself by standing at the age of two. This was due to weak bone tissue structure. Also, when the child is young, the mental intelligence is normally high and she tends to learn everything from the parents and the social environment around her. For this child, she suffered much since it was not easier for her to learn from those around her. Therefore, she knew little.
Moreover, the cognitive features and social emotional development of this young girl were affected. She had an issue with her central nervous system. Therefore, she was only exposed to her family members and neighborhood colleagues. Thus, it was very hard for her to relate with any other person who was not from her homestead.
Also, the girl could drop saliva from her mouth suddenly as she tried uttering some words. This was due to the poor development of the brain section responsible for speech. This child could not easily utter simple words at her age. Also, she had a challenge with her emotions, whereby the child could burst out into tears whenever she was left alone. This made the child look disturbed mentally. Also, she was not at ease with the way she moved around when not near her mother.
These weaknesses are a challenge in the girl's life since they have led to delay in her development and education. Also, they are a challenge to the parents since they could rarely associate the child with others. They could not leave her play with other siblings since they had fear of her being injured.
PART 2
Most children fail to thrive to their maturity cognitive and development stage due to different factors that may include social and economic (Beilin & Pufall, 2015). This may be due to poor vaccination, poverty, malnutrition, and poor health. In other cases, the infants may be born with complicated issues due to the health status of the mother of the child. This is a state whereby the parent is involved in substance abuse during her pregnancy period, thus resulting in delivering a child with low weight, and poor health.
Stunted growth in infants may also be due to poor parenting where the parents do not care of the health of the sibling, social and cultural practices whereby some communities are against administering of certain vaccines to the children, the environment within which the child is brought up, and nutrition. Each factor determines the growth phases of a child differently. For instance, for a child to develop well emotionally and cognitively, the parenting style matters. For this case, the infant has to be shown love from the tender age. This will enhance her mind to grow positive and with no stress. This facilitates the level of development in children.
Also, the meals that the child is weaned with determine the cognitive development of the child. At the tender age of weaning, the child should receive meals that contain proper nutritional values. This will ensure that the tissues of the offspring are well served with required nutrients, and they develop well. Thus, the child's impact is felt within the social regions. The offspring is able to coordinate her cognition and learning skills. Thus, one can determine the foundation of such a child. When a child develops malnutrition, her system is generally weak and this results to most of them having weak bones that cannot support their weight, thus they cannot perform cognitive activities.
Also, a child's emotional development is influenced by the relations the child has with those who take care of her. For this case, when the child is stressed and her emotions are low. The child tends to be nervous and continuously cries. On the other hand, when the child is happy, she tends to be jovial and performs many activities. She moves around happily as she observes the actions of those around her.
In other cases, environmental factors also influence the growth rates of children. For instance, in cases where infants are exposed to arsenic and lead elements before birth they are likely to undergo premature births, or born underweight. Arsenic effects are mainly experienced via drinking water. Also, some other diseases that are infectious to infants can be contracted through indirect or direct pathways. This may due to poor sanitation within the region where the children are brought up. Also, it may be due to low immunity in children.
Recommendations
Therefore, for rapid growth of an infant, he/she should be brought up in regions that are clean and the water supply should be sufficient. Also, one should ensure that the child is not exposed to environmental hazards which may include pollution of the air by emitting gases into the atmosphere. These gases left into the air may contain lead or arsenic which results in child’s stunted growth when inhaled. Also, lead elements can lead to poisoning and madness if inhaled in large quantities or for a long period of time.
When the infants are young, they have the capability of learning from what they hear, see, touch, and do. Normally, the child should be curious, social, ready to learn, and communicate with various individuals via eye contact, facial expression, sound, and body movements. Therefore, the caregivers of these young ones should readily interpret their skills and determine whether the child is normal at his/her tender age.
Also, the parenting factors influence the well-being of the child at her tender age. This is whereby the parent has to adequately take care of the child during her infancy period since the development of the personality, growth, and health for the child...
