The Crime of Terrorism (Case Study Sample)

Introduction
The 20th century was when the US investigative and security agency registered the most infamous crimes. According to statistics, 50% of total crimes were murder crimes, 20% were drug trafficking and rape, and the rest were miscellaneous crimes (Croken, 2017). One of the most asked questions is why people commit crimes. What are their motives for committing crimes? And what type of people, nationals, or communities do they target for their crimes? Detectives and law enforcement team works in line with the crime scene investigators to break down the puzzle of why crimes are committed. To exploit this study, the case of Osama Bin Laden is used to prolificate the most infamous criminal conduct of the 20th century. This paper will delineate the instances when the victim in the case scenario was convicted of the crimes committed, what crimes he committed, the circumstances that led to the commitment of the crime. The people affected in his criminal acts. People are often incited or propelled by either internal or external factors to commit crimes.
Crime committed
Osama Bin Laden orchestrated several crimes during his tenure when he was the leader of the International Terrorist Organization (Aryan, 2019). It is believed that many of the crimes committed by the Al Qaeda leader were not recorded. His name was mentioned in the subjective investigation of terrorism crimes committed in different East African Countries, Pakistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Syria, etc. However, one of the infamous crimes committed by the victim was Planning and executing the bombing of US Embassies Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. Osama Bin Laden was charged for the heinous crime among other members of Al Qaeda (Croken, 2017). All the crimes happened in 1998. The incident claimed the lives of hundreds of people, including US nationals. In the same year, Osama Bin Laden was also charged for being the head of a terrorist organization conspiring to attack the defense utilities of the United States. In addition, he was also accused and indicted for crimes for conspiracy to murder US nationals within the United States and anywhere in the world. The victim was placed by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation as the most wanted terrorist following his involvement in several terrorist attacks and the belief for the conspiracy for unknown attacks. Osama was placed at the front doors as the primary target on the significant war on terrorism as the US FBI allocated over $26 Million on him for his search.
The circumstance of the Event
It is believed that criminals are compelled by factors that cater across the economic, sociological, and pollical spectrum (Hunter & Biglaiser, 2020). Biological factors are associated with brain functions; sociological behavior is associated with the social environment where a perceived victim emanates from, while political factors are affiliated with corruption and weak security systems within the security agencies. Osama Bin Laden was compelled by many reasons to commit crimes (Aryan, 2019). Before he began criminal activities, Osama was a staunchly religious man. He was involved in various charitable work, writing poetry, reading books, and playing football. He believed in the ideology of civilization and to protect the lives of vulnerable groups within his community. He developed a suspicion that enemy countries could be targeting to kill civilians, including children and women from Islamic-dominated countries. He was, therefore, motivated by the acceptance that US foreign policy has obnoxiously harmed, oppressed, and killed Muslim women in the middle east. As a result, he antagonized these forces by issuing warnings and threats to the US security national. While still the leader of Al Qaeda, he was offended by the act of US security national and by what America is. He planned and executed attacks to threaten his enemies.
Following the intense antagonism of Bin Laden against the US acts, he called upon the US to convert to Muslims to denounce acts of homosexuality, gambling, usury, intoxicants, and gambling also to change their form of governance. Osama wanted to restore the muslin world, which he believed was in crisis. He resonated to apply “Sharia Law” to fight and restore sanity within the world of Muslims. He used the power of Jihad to combat instances of injustices against Islamic communities perpetrated by the United States security agencies (Hunter & Biglaiser, 2020). He called the US to remove all its civilian and security staff from every Islamic country worldwide. Scholars who evaluated his approaches for achieving his demands designated him a terrorist. In 1997, Osama Bin Laden fated Americans to accept the labeling of the Bombing of Hiroshima as a terrorist act (Aryan, 2019). In 2001, he defended the killing of American civilians and termed it as a revenge mechanism of ill acts committed to Muslim communities by the Americans. He also made subsequent justification that all American citizens are responsible for the actions of their government over Islamic civilians in the Middle East.
Within the same period, Osama Bin Laden attracted a bunch of enemies across the globe, including the United States and the Soviet Union. He intended to lure into a long-term war embedded with terrorism acts. His long-term goals are to cause mayhem in the enemy country and cause economic sabotage in their associate investment countries. A Videotape released by Al Jazeera in 2004 revealed that Bin Laden spoke of “Bleeding Africa to Collapse.”
