At Amazon, the culture is that leadership principles empower employees to be owners and innovators, while maintaining their customer centricity and will to take risks. This organizational culture enables the company to respond to the demands of customers and the dynamic e-commerce market. It also sets the traditions and values that influence employees’ behavior (Alvesson). Amazon’s culture is also viewed by stakeholders as the key to its business success. Moreover, it is meant to reinforce the company’s pioneering efforts in online retail business.
Amazon is good at innovation and customer service. For instance, the company has managed to execute customer orders using its worldwide distribution channels. The company has also managed to diversify its products and services. For instance, it started off as an online bookstore and now offers a wide array of products. However, Amazon has not performed well in employee welfare since the company strains the workers, especially by pushing them to take bold and peculiar non-conventional approaches of doing work.
