On the image is there an old man holding the heads of two short people who are on his either sides. The man is dressed in full clothes and the two shorts people on his either side are not shown but it is only their heads that are visible. Therefore the man is holding the heads of two people on his either sides. The two heads are old and look like corpse.

Understanding the ancestors start with the clan. A clan is a group of at least two people related by blood or marriage. The clan share one ancestor and recognize one individual as the leader. Art solidifies the extended families by ensuring that the ancestors are available to the living clan members; depict important events on the history of clan and; art is an important element of rituals that bring the clan members together.
The ancestors play important role on the living members of the clan and their ability to work with power and authority. In Rome, the people believed that ancestor were important. They preserved the portraits of their ancestors and always venerate their memories about them to show how important they were as they undertake their daily activities. In the first century, Romans started making death masks using marbles for performance, this looked durable and hence they started sculpturing death masks that could look monumental and energetic.
The Togata Barberini statue is an example of the sculpture that was used to worship ancestor and glorify their lineage. Togata is holding the heads of ancestors. The three faces are factual and are exact record of appearance. Ancestor s’ portraits were treated with respect and often copied to all the clan members. Large portraits like Togata was individually mad and placed in mass produced standardized marbles. The sculptures were kept in shrines in the homes and were mainly unveiled during ceremonies and funerals as symbols of status.
