Starbucks is a coffee company that understands the importance of having a strategy that will attract more customers and keep them from going to other stores. Aside from coffee, the company does a lot of things with the aim of taking care of the customers and partners’ health and well-being. Starbucks uses a business strategy to improve the competitive advantage of the company’ products as well as the services. This strategy utilizes both the cooperative and competitive strategy. Certain things sets this company apart from its rivals. First, the company offers a free drink to new clients which does not happen in all companies. For a customer buying a breakfast sandwich, they get a cage-free fried egg and a plant-based sausage patty which is unique for Starbucks. Starbucks also offers a free delivery to a new customer either one who orders a drink or food (Simon, 2011). I mean, who would not want to get such amazing offers?
There are several things about the strategy of a company that can lead to a sustainable advantage. Such things lies in the company attributes, abilities or assets that are hard to exceed or duplicate providing the company a favorable and superior long term position over its competitors (Siregar & Indrajaya, 2019). One, having a cost leadership strategy where a company is in a position to deliver products and services at very low costs compared to competitors can lead to a sustainable advantage.
