Higher learning is the education that exceeds high schools, and it is provided by schools like colleges, universities and other professional’s schools. The National Resource Center for Youth Development (NRCYD) defines it as institution that Awards; certificate, diploma, bachelors and masters. With duration of a minimum of two years, the student should acquire gainful employment and skills and competences.
For a student to succeed in Education there are strategies which should be implemented in higher learning institutes as indicated below, there are a lot of activities, policies, rules and regulation to be followed in colleges to be followed in order for one to succeed and have smooth life while in college.
Attend orientation, for a student to achieve in an institution of higher learning, one should report to college early and attend orientation process. This helps a student to learn more about the institution that is the dos and don’ts, to get familiarization with the lectures, the lecture rooms, and the academic staff. He/she must endeavor to learn policies of the institution.
Research and reading widely, In order for a student to excel in an institution of higher education, a student should make sure he/she research and reading widely before attending a class. This helps a student to have a rough idea of what is being taught during the lessons and also being active during the lessons by asking questions and clarifications when in doubt.
Prepare for tests /examination, this preparation in time in order to avoid last minute rush. A student should avoid last minute reading because with advance preparation a student eliminates the element of clamming when sitting for tests or exams. Good preparation well enough in time will make the student to excel. Attend all lessons in time. A student should not miss a lecture this is because it helps in better grasp and concept of the course. Attending lectures is a must for a student in order to excel in college because a lot is taught in class which is very important for understanding of the course.
Time management, for a student to have smooth academic life in college a student should know how to manage time well. Time management is very crucial element for student to succeed in college. A student should complete all assignment before deadline .This helps a student to proofread the assignment and correct the mistakes before handing it over to the tutor.
