The journal was authored at a time when many regions of the world (mainly western Africa) were faced with Ebola disease (EBD) epidemic. Being a disease with no certified medication, every state/ nation of the world feared the penetration of the virus into its territories. At the time, the governments placed all possible measures to prevent the spread of the disease into their countries. Despite all these efforts, the fear of Ebola could not be eliminated from not only the ordinary nationals, but also the medical practitioners.
Responding to the vigorous spread of the disease, the author decided to write a journal that would explain various measures that can be put in place for preparedness and prevention of Ebola. The main purpose of the paper therefore was to enlighten every the different stakeholder and possible victims of the Ebola disease, on how the disease could be prevented. In his article, he points out that, since there is no effective treatment for Ebola disease, the only method that can help in controlling the spread of the disease is by quarantine. This advice to the government would assist in isolating the suspected or confirmed Ebola patients, and specialized attention given to them. This prevents unnecessary spread of the disease.
The targeted audience

Looking at the time during which the article was written, ideally, it aimed at every human being, regardless of geographical location, race, religion, occupation, etc. The paper was written at a time when every human being was filled with fear of the Ebola disease, after the disease was declared a world epidemic.
It was a time of fear, especially because that the disease had capacity to take lives within hours, and yet had no known cure. For this reason, every person wanted to get information on how the disease is spread. The document was appropriate for the audience, especially because it was written during a time when people needed information covered by the document. The document was authored in the year 2014, the year when every part of the world was talking about Ebola. The timing of the document was appropriate, in catering to the needs of its audience. It also presents information in logical order, hence enhancing the understanding of its content. He the addresses the needs of the medical officers, by explaining the practices which they should look at, to avoid falling victims of the disease while attending the patients. Additionally, he addresses the needs of the ordinary person, by outlining the ways through which the disease is transmitted, and how it can be avoided.
