Differences between Conflict Management and Anger Management
Conflict management involves the process through which an individual or a group of people limit the negative effects of a conflict while increasing the positive outcomes from the conflict. On the other side, anger management involves limiting the anger effects of an individual to minimal levels so that one does not act while angry only to regret later. Anger management and conflict management differ on various grounds including the level of involvement, the parties involves, therapies used, and the effects of overall management. This paper analyzes the differences between anger management and conflict management with a view of drawing a difference line between the two.
First, anger management involves one individual while conflict management involves at least two parties. Anger management is personal to a particular person meaning the therapist deals with one level of effects (Linda, 2005). However, conflict management involves solving differences between at least two people. Additionally, the levels of involvement also determines the therapies applied on the parties. In anger management, the therapies are personal and involve individuals while they involve group practices in conflict management.
Conflict management mainly aims at developing group dynamics like cooperation and team work among individuals. It is easier for people to work together when they have minimal conflicts. However, anger management aims at internal peace of a person, which is mostly related to peaceful coexistence with other people (Linda, 2005).
