The theory of international relations focuses on how world systems work. It is the best explanation on what refers to as the notable differences regarding how countries relate to each other in the modern world due to the abundance of concrete evidence. This theory is hinged on two propositions namely, the national interest as well as the theory of realism.
According to the theory of national interest, countries act on what they think will protect their national interest. A nation interest normally includes military security, influence over other nations, economic prosperity and self-preservation. For instance, countries could advocate for people since it helps them to carry out trade transactions. The most notable case in the modern world is in increased pleads for diplomacy between countries that traditionally have contrasting views. This is because they think that by a peaceful coexistence all economic activities will progress (Dunne, 55). Contrary, if two opposing countries cannot find a solution to their misunderstandings, they may resort to war.
Another pillar of the theory of international relations is realism. It posits that countries are continually working to increase their powers about other nations (Dunne, 83).
