In America in 1898. From your perspective, would you be an imperialist or anti-imperialist? Explain why.
In America Being a factory owner, I would be an imperialist. Imperialism involved the advocacy or policy of increasing dominion or power, particularly in acquiring or controlling other regions. As a factory owner, I would stand a chance of benefiting from imperialism because my country would gain control of a large area, giving me a chance to have a wide market base. Also, I will be able to get available labor and even better cheap ones.
What are 3 of the four reasons for US Imperialism in the late 1800s?
The reasons for US imperialism included economic competition, military rivalry, and the assumption about the racial dominance of Anglo-Saxon origin. As a result of America's economic growth in 1800, they started to expand their market base. The nation also needed a place to refuel its fleet during military operations strategically. The US also believed they were responsible for civilizing the inferior people worldwide, hence the reason for imperialism.
List 2 reasons why some people wanted to annex the Philippines
In 1898, the US paid Spain to annex the Philippines. Some US citizens who supported the annexation had a variety of reasons. Two of them were the desire to have commercial opportunities with Asia nations and the fear that if America did not take control of the islands, a different power, either Japan or Germany, would do so. The Filipinos were furious and were ready for war with Aguinaldo as the leader.
