ASSIGNMENT 2. AUMF Policy. Law Coursework Assignment (Coursework Sample)
Both the president and Congress play a role in decisions regarding the use of military force. What are the president’s powers in this area? What are the powers of Congress in this area? Read the article “ New Legislation Offers Opportunity to Address 2001 Authorization for Use of Force, Amid Fears of War with Iran .” Why do you think members of Congress have been willing not to vote on the use of force and to allow modern presidents (such as Bush, Obama and Trump) to take the lead in this area? Do you think Congress should play a larger role in decisions regarding the use of military force?

AUMF Policy
The legislature is responsible for making both domestic and foreign policies. The legislation is politicalized, and it involves various political leaders who are conversant with the law. Congress is formed up with representatives from all the states in the US who are responsible for making federal legislation policies such as redistributive, distributive and regulations (Barbour, p156). Security policies and regulations need to be accurate as they determine the safety of the nation with its international relation at large. Authorization on the Use of Military Force is a policy set almost two decades ago with allowed the authorization of army involvement in wars. The policy gave the president the authority to send troops to countries having wars. Despite the US showing cognitive interest in preventing wars in other countries, the policy has exposed its weakness in President Trump’s era.
