Introduction
This paper analyzes data given by BIMS (Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc) in the verge of investigating the turnover causes in DMC (Douglas Medical Center). The paper includes coding and evaluation of raw data, and data charts.
Data analysis and interpretation
Raw data
An employee survey was developed consisting of ten morale questions plus four questions on demographic that were set to help in data coding and analysis and administration of all employees in the non-management sector. Seventy-eight out of the total responses were returned, which represents 17.3 percent of the response rate. Sally was responsible of inputting the raw data to a spreadsheet whose data entry accuracy has raised some questions.
Data analysis
The ten questions in the questionnaire had five possible answers. These answers include i) Very Negative, ii) Negative, iii) Satisfied, iv) positive, and v) Very Positive. Data analysis was mainly based on the surveyed population plus each division of the sub-divisions. The completion of the statistical analysis helped in determining the standard deviation, modes, skew, and central tendencies with the verge of determining the significance of the findings (Anderson, 2013).
Central tendencies
According to the chart 1 below, a mean score of all median answers was 2.71. Therefore, if the benchmark is three for satisfied employees than the questions Q1-Q10 means answers, then it indicates dissatisfaction since it is below average (Anderson, 2013).
Cumulative modes
In chart 1, the majority of the cumulative mode answers are negative (2) for Q1-Q10. Equally, this indicates employee dissatisfaction.
Skew
In chart 1, data for Q1-Q10 suggests a positive skew. The implication of a positive skew is that most answers are ranked below "satisfied”. Therefore, a larger portion of the workers has rated their work and environment as subpar.
Standard deviation
Standard deviation is used to determine the wideness of the variant of the responses. A large deviation implies lack of consensus of the respondents towards a given question or issue while a small deviation implies consistency in responses (Anderson, 2013).
Interpretation and findings
According to the data surveyed, 47 percent were negative while 33 percent positive about working for BIMS. Regarding the assigned shifts, 35 percent were satisfied against 48 percent who were not happy with it. Regarding complain requests, 47 percent of the respondents said that their requests are turned down.
A large portion of the respondents (65 percent) complained that they are underpaid as compared to 9 percent who are satisfied. Other identified issues include lack of training, unfair treatment, and inferior communication from the managers and supervisors.
