Adjustment According to the Ecological Theory.
In my life’s experiences, I have gone through certain life situations that required adjustment due to the ecological theory. When I was a kid, I learnt how to speak. To the micro-environment, learning how to speak made me know and understand my close relatives, family members and my neighbors. Learning how to speak has solved disputes among us and resolved many issues between us. In the mesosystem, learning how to speak has made me have positive attitude towards my teachers since young; otherwise I would have been neglected.
Learning how to speak has helped me solve issues of conflict between my parents and I. I am strongly attached to my mother than my father. In this case, when my mother is away, I relate well with my father, rather than when both are there, hence an ecological adjustment.
In my socio-economic life, I have been able to work hard to earning some money to help in making a better lifestyle. Learning how to speak in this essence has made me understand my culture and love it as it is. I have been encouraged to make money by passing through some hardships in life.
Learning how to speak has created influence in my parents’ behaviors towards me. When young, parents seem caring towards you but at this age, the same parents seem to neglect you so that you may cope with life on your own. This does not apply to my parents only but also applies to my teachers. On comparing my teachers when young, they were one of my best since they taught me every part of life, but at this age, the same teachers assume that I know everything about life and make fun of it. The change from spoon-feeding to assumption let me know that ecological systems in life really change (Explorable, 2015: JD, 2015).
Stress in My Life.
I have experienced some stressful events in my life. Among the stressing events are changes in residence and major changes in the financial state of my life. Changes in residence, being the major deal of stress in my life has made me succumb to changes in certain behaviors I had. My behavioral factors have exposed me to risk of diseases and changes in my chronic health.
Mental health is the major affected kind of health with having stress (Helpguide.org, 2015). Change of residence exposed me to a new environment with new neighbours, friends and climate. Having to deal with these friends is not such an easy task. It takes ages to understand someone, their characters, behaviours, and their friendship level. Change of residence created certain problems in my life, like theft of belongings and such.
Residence also includes school, where it is difficult to accept the fact that you are not in the school you were before. Making friendship with over 50 students and making them accept you as their classmate in not as easy too. This event in my life created a psychological stress, leading to mental health. I have suffered from small instances of depression, through letting people accept me in their community.
I have had eating disorders, poor eating habits through anxiety of the fact that I am in a new environment. I have lost some of my characters by adopting my neighbours’ characters. I have had grief and pain through loss of items to my neighbouring community. I have also had losses in my personality, I have had stress and suffered trauma out of the same. These psychological kinds of suffering made me think of a way to cope with the challenging situation, but in the actual since, I never thought of committing suicide.
Coping styles.
There are many styles I have been using to solve personal and interpersonal problems in my life. I have surrendered to certain challenges in my life, avoided some solutions to problems in life that could cause disputes (positives ways of coping with life). also overcompensated some issues, like doing the opposite of what other people make us feel; a negative method of coping.
