High school is one of the most crucial and life changing stages in a student’s life. This is because adolescence, peer pressure and tougher subjects are introduced and experienced at this stage. At this stage, personal and social traits, and attitudes and up bringing determine the outcomes of academic performance.

On a personal level, the student should have self-drive to learn more, work hard and commit to long hours of studying. Though this a student’s attitude towards particular unpopular subjects would gradually change through practice. This self-drive can be nurtured through scheduling, planning study time and focused studying. The student should also be brave enough to ask for tutoring, focused help and practice tests. This is the first step in academic success in High Schools.

On a social level, students should relate well with peers, parents and teachers. Relating well with fellow students creates a good learning environment, can sprout discussion groups and peer assisted tutoring.
