The Four fifths rule is a method of estimating and determining an adverse impact in a group of individuals classified by sexual orientation, ethnicity or races (Phillips & Gully, 2015). The law provides guidelines for selection when giving promotions, hiring or making any employment decisions. A selection that is less than four-fifth of any individuals with the highest rate is said to indicate an evidence of adverse impact (Hauenstein, Holmes & Tison, 2013). On the other hand, a collection greater than four-fifth or eighty percent is not considered to have evidence of an adverse effect. A case based on statistical estimation can be evaluated using this rule. Hence an adverse impact regarding race or gender become known.

The rate of the male from the second illustration is 90% plus, as compared to the female figure. There is no adverse impact on the value of male, but a 5% rate in the female figure shows an impact on minority and non-minority value(Volpone, Tonidandel, Avery&Castel, 2015).
