These factors include the external and internal environment. In this essay we shall cross examine the internal environment of Westminster Conference Centre, a service industry located in London. The conference center is the leading provider of meeting venues for the government entities. The centre also provides hospitality services to the private entities that are only affiliated to and or sponsored by the government. This is because the organization is not a commercial avenue to make profits from other private agencies. (Warren, 2014). 2 Organizational analysis Fundamentally, internal environment refers to factors, events and conditions in a business organization that affect the major decisions (Ford, 2015). Some of the factors that are to be discussed are the structure of the organization, policies, and corporate culture, philosophy of management and management and resources * Structure of the organization The structure of the organization has made the management of the Centre to be easy and therefore propelling it to its achievements. The firm uses hierarchical management structure which outlines and separates the roles and duties of employees. The structure of the organization is shown below: (Warren, 2014). Westminster Centre uses matrix structure that has specialized personnel endeavored to perform different functions. The structure is a mixture of upward and horizontal communication network that enhance cross functional communication among different departments (Kibedi, 2014). The employees are answerable therefore to the departments while the departments to the managing director. The companies sometimes undertake a corporate bonding event involving all the employees of the company making them share different decisions and concerns. However, the decision making power relies on the board of directors with consultation from the managing director who also represents the views of the employees of the organization. This form of structure in Westminster Centre is good as it involves inclusion an element of effective management. * Policies Policies are frameworks and guidelines followed by all the employees within the organization. The policies in the service industry should be diverse and non discriminatory. This ensures smooth management because stringent policies often cause employees inactive and bored while working (Kibedi 2015, p14). In Westminster Conference Centre, the policies favor the employees and this makes them hard working. The working hours and the terms of payment in the Centre are encouraging. The opening hours of service range from 8am to 6pm.The employees are expected to work within these hours. Any extra time is compensated to boost their morale and hard work. The centre is committed and missioned in providing unique and exclusive services to the government organization and agencies. These good policies thrust the employees to work hard to ensure that the goal of the firm is met while saving time and resources which implies effective management. * Corporate culture This is defined as the personality of any organization. The general manager of the Westminster Centre comprehends the facets of the firm’s unique culture. In the recent studies by Homan (2014), effective management involves usage of firm’s culture as a major force of positive change. The company’s values include honesty, teamwork and employee participation. Apart from the values, the symbols in the Centre foster healthy competition among the employees ensuring comfort and inclusion in the organization. In addition, the rituals which are routine programs that include meeting of employees with management for corporate bonding twice in a year are vital in motivation of the employees. This is important in management because it enhances teamwork in corporate management. The last component of corporate culture in the Centre is heroes. This identifies the employee of the year in terms of productivity, hard work and time management so that he or she may be a role model to others. This often comes with incentives and this has revolutionalised the hard work of employees. This self driven nature of the employees makes it easy to manage them. The Centre thus propels a culture of diversity and inclusion by valuing staff and centralizing talents and perspectives (Homan 2014, p 4). * The philosophy of management. According to Graeme (2012), philosophies of management are manager’s values and believe.
