Introduction
This is aconcept which has so many interpresentation. It has social, economic and environmental dimensions, Apart from that this concept have highly gained interest among government and business and other stokeholders, it has also made so many numbers of scholars trigger into discussion about its meaning.(Carroll,2004).this increase in interest is due to the efforts and struggles made the international corporation. These efforts have also contributed to the improve of labour standards and also it has enhanced the use of renewable energy for instance. Many of other international corporations have joined this Corporate Social Responsibility with an aim of improving the business and also to aid in labour improvements in Acia and the Pacific. The corporate social responsibility has also received little attention from business practitioners in the region because this corporate has been evolved mainly in the western countries, through a better understanding about this concept of this corporate social responsibility, one is able to understand deeply its meaning and also understands a better meaning of this concept andits relationship between their business and their stakeholders.
The emergency of corporate social responsibility as apublic and business concept
In the 19th century businesses had raised concerns on the welfare of its employees and their impacts on the society.Due to the emergency of the labour movement caused by the industrial revolution, the businesses started to avail little or limited scale on the social welfare, for instance the provision of food, construction of hospital and other social services were limited.(Carroll,2008).The concept about the social corporate responsibility emerged suddenly in the year 1950s .In 1953 Bowen defined the social corporate responsibility as the duties of businessmen to make their own decisions and to also pursue their policies according to the objectives and also the values of the society they operate in. He also said that businessmen were to be responsibly for their actions and they were to face all the consequences in terms of their performance. Also in 1960 Davis defined the corporate social responsibility as business decision which are taken for certain reasons. He also said that the concept was a fake idea which was to be addressed in a managerial context. He further went a head and said that some business decisions can be justified for their consequences of their actions wider than corporate financial performance. Frederick in 1960 defined corporate social responsibility as a private contribution to the society where it ensured the resources used in the business was utilized for better social ends. Apart from that he went ahead and summarized its development into three core informations the first one was through stakeholders balanced claim to corporate resource the second one was corporate managers as public trustees and lastly the acceptance of business philanthropy. The concept of 1960 and 1970 was distinguished through the growth of many social movements praising the consumers protections and also their labour rights. According to Samuelson in 1971 he argued about davis definition on CSR ,he said that it refers to company’s consideration of the issiues beyond the economic and technical needs of the company.1971, the Committee for Eonomic Development defined Corporate Social Responsibilty as abusiness opportunity which served to provide for the needs of the society.(Carroll,2008). The earliest and the mostly comprehensive framework of the Corporate Social Resposibilty was proposed by (Carroll 1979).In the 1980s and 1990sCarrolls CSR model was refined,where watrick and Cochran (1985) came up with another three dimensional model pertaining the principles and also the principles and lastly the processes of the CSR model. In 1980 also Jones accepted the role of corporate social responsibility that it was not asset of outcomes rather it was an evolving process, regulated by principles and some policies. In 1990 wood further reformed the 3 dimensional models through emphasizing the performance of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives
