The present day business world is faced with an increased level of competition and market uncertainty. This is as a result of many new entry of firms into the business environment, business organization have become more complex in their operations, they are also faced with a dynamic business environment due to current global economic trends, this in turn translates to a constantly changing, violate and highly unpredictable business environment, business organizations seeks to thrive in this complex environment although they are faced with a number of challenges which ranges from changing environment to instability in their internal affairs.
One way by with business seek to thrive in the face of this reality is the adopted and implementation of a competitive intelligence system and an accurate decision support system for strategic decision making, and also a well-equipped database for advancement in its information system, business should also place emphasis on incorporating a dynamic process. A dynamic process is a system by which businesses achieves competitive advantage by evaluating developing and exploring information (Kogut 1988). Business adopting the above will not only survive in a complex environment but gain a competitive edge over its rivals.

Over the years and the 21st-century competitive intelligence has been instrumental to success and survivor of businesses, competitive intelligent can be described as the process by which a business organization gathers analyze and distribute intelligent about its customer, its product lines, and its competitor (McGraw-Hill Ryerson, 2006). Competitive intelligent is a means by which business seeks to understand and adequately comprehend what is happening in the outside world, understanding the events and complexity of the outside world will enable them to compete effectively with rivals firms, competitive intelligence can also describe a process by which firms seek to learn as much as possible about its industry, the competitors, its target market, the country and even the continent. Competitive intelligence is gathering information, converting such information to into intelligence and making a decision with such information. (McGonagle et al. 2003). Business organization that adopts competitive intelligence are said to perform a function responsible for early identification of risk critical factors that can lead to business success, this system provides this information a timely and user-friendly manner.
Decision support system provides users with a qualitative tool for modeling and easy data access (L.F. Young, 1983). Business technologies such as decision support system are very handy in problem-solving they can effectively provide solutions to some business problems and serve as a basis for strategic decision making. DSS brings together priorities and providing decision maker the tool for effectively making the right choice; this makes the decision-making process a lot more comfortable and getting information across to those who will take action about early warning signals (Bergeron at al 1991)
