Effective Group Discussion
Leaders should be sensitive to various ethical and moral issues. Providing group therapy is quite a powerful mode of intervention. In essence, as the team involvement unfurls, the leading figure in the group should remain alert. This means being constantly ready to resolve and perceive all issues in an ethical perspective (Galanes, & Adams, 2013). The following are typical issues with apparent ethical considerations. The first is about the dominant group conformity. The group agreements, is an imperative aspect of a given group since it provides it with clarity and definition purposes. This is an essential issue for the safety of the group.
However, in rare circumstances, it is unethical to accept only rigid rules when solving needs for a given member. For instance, the group could agree that failing to make a call prior to absenteeism, could lead to breach of rules punishable by the group laws (Galanes, & Adams, 2013). However, if an individual proves that an inevitable emergency vetoed making the call, the leader of the group may concur that the crime does not warrant any reporting.
Moreover, the innate needs of the group members could at times supersede courtesies merited to a person. For instance, the group could prohibit members from discussing any member absent. However, in case the member relapses due to some form of illness then, the no-discussion decree ceases. This occurs should the group leader decide to permit the members deliberate on the issue of the missing member. In this case, knowledgeable members would acquaint others the current situation of the missing member hence propose appropriate action to implement to remedy the situation (Fujishin, 2007).
Members would understand how an individual plight affects the entire group. Despite group participation being mandatory, it is important to inform and discuss about the open options available. In the medical field, it is mandatory that the client discuss with the physician about the available alternative programs (Galanes, & Adams, 2013). Moreover, an individual deserves the right to discuss with the group leader about some aspect deemed unsuitable. In essence, when such a scenario happens, the aspect of cultural competences should take center stage since what appears suitable for an individual is not universally suitable to others. Yet, preventing enmeshment is of paramount importance.
It is critical that leaders remain conscious that the control, power, and influence exercised by the group could have negative outcome. Though solidity leads to positive outcomes, which need absolute support, the innate passion for attachment can experience some undue pressure. This is especially on members on the throes and verge of some kind of recovery from substance misuse. Besides, human beings are social animals hence requires some sense of belonging which if unchecked is prone to abuse. An individual could act in unethical manner with contravenes social standards and impede their problem solving capacities (Galanes, & Adams, 2013). Problem-solving exercise entails thoughts, decisions, discussions, and actions, which happens from the initial contemplation of the problematic issue to its resolution.
However, a plethora of problems encountered include the common issues such as budgeting funds, raising capital, planning business events, creating products aimed at solving some market needs, addressing clients complaints, and raising awareness. However, in all modes of problems encountered they entail the following three common modules. First, it entails some detrimental situation. In essence, desirable conditions justify absence of a problem (Fujishin, 2007). Preferred situation, despite it being vague, there is conviction to improve the undesired condition. Yet, the vague idea would turn into some precise objective, which is achievable, but solution is yet to materialize. Obstacles exist between the desired and undesired condition.
In essence, these obstacles entail the items, which obstructs between the prevailing situation and the ultimate attainment of a given goal. The aspect of the problem requires much effort to remedy in terms of implementing desirable decision-making efforts. A number of obstacles encountered include scarcity of resources, limited funds, lack of adequate personnel, inadequate information, and lack of enough time to address the problem. Besides, obstacles can include individuals who are working against the remedial efforts by sabotage (Galanes, &...
