A workplace is a setup of different people with a variety of uniqueness and diversity. Typically in any office there arise differences such as gender, race, ethnic group, personality, age, background among others. Appreciating different cultural and appreciating differences among the workers is very important, and for this reason it is recommendable to understand the strength and weakness of individuals and embrace the diversity that exists in the organization.
All organizations should be in a position to handle adaptability and communication issues that will set the foundation. Many different cultures have different perspectives on workplace issues, these include, time management, teamwork, responsibility, respect and authority. Other issues that may arise include methods of communication, transparency, reluctance to give and receive feedback and also ethics. Employees and clients operating on the bases of diverse belief systems with conflicting attitudes, it creates barriers on job bonding. The responsibility of harmonizing falls on the leadership of the organization and HR professionals so as to ensure that the issues are managed, (Deshpande 1989).
Cross cultural is also important and it should be admitted that challenges of avoiding it can affect the performance of the business. An example is an organization that does business globally will obviously consider this cultural management or serving customer from another part of the world. The synergy that results from the combination of culture is greater compared with one culture.
The heterogeneous culture, workforce is advantageous when it comes to marketing which allows new segments in cultural and ethnic marketing. Unlike the domestic services and goods that have a small room for expansion. Cross-cultural sensitivity has power in increasing competition in foreign markets where native competitor could be well versed with the market set up.
When it comes to gender sensitive in an organization, perception of gender equality is important in the structure of the management. And it should not only reflect the number of the men and women, but attention should also be in effect, of the gender in the workplace and on work. When we have gender equality in the workplace, men and women in the workplace doesn't face differences among themselves and there is a positive attitude while engaging in their daily duties, (Schein 1990). Both genders need to be appreciated and recognized in the workplace without discriminating or neglecting another gender. The combined working as a family makes everybody engage in the development of the organization.
