The Future of Paperback Books
The paperback books are print media that are used to store information in written form for future reference. Besides, their cover is made of soft papers glued and embossed to give a sparkling appearance. Softcover books have been in service for decades; they were developed from the olden forms of media called scrolls and slates. After the discovery of paper, books have been widely used in most parts of the world. This paper discusses the possibility of the existence of Paperback books in the future.
With the increased knowledge in information communication technology (ICT), the world has witnessed the emergence of e-books and hardcovers'. Electronic books can be read with a computer's assistance, meaning that they are electricity-dependent, unlike softcover books that do not require electric power (Blummer & Kenton, 2020). The e-books are read through an internet-enabled cellphone, a cumbersome process in the absence of a network (Imprint Digital.com 2021, par. 5). As a result, the invention of e-books has only supplemented the storage of paperback books. Consequently, the transformation from paper-books to electronic information storage is an excellent achievement in the media arena (Imprint Digital.com 2021, par. 8). Both the paperback and the e-books supplement each other; there is the possibility of paperback and hardcover books dominating the markets over 50 years to come.
