The public sector faces a serious challenge of trying to balance the existing talent from the older generations and the acquisition of new skills from the younger employees. The problem has been brought forth by the high number of retirees associated with the aging baby boomer population (Greene, 2017). The older generation staff members have skills and experiences that can be useful in ensuring productivity in the public sector.
