The skills are usually goal-driven and in line with the vision and the mission of an organization. Managers are expected to be in possession of the required management skills to fulfill their obligations.

Management is a process taught or learned by individuals in different aspects of life that involve a dedication of time and self-discipline. Conversely, management skills represent the attributes, mannerisms, and strategies employed by an individual with an aim of enhancing their management performance. The skills enhance the practices related to managerial and organizational effectiveness (Ellis, 2005).
The management skills are entirely controllable, developable, and interrelated. Controllability means that the execution of these skills is under the control of the individual possessing them. In addition, the skills are developable in that individuals can improve them and become better. The management skills are also interrelated in that a manager cannot isolate a particular skill on its own. Putting any management skill to work requires the support of other skills an individual possesses (Lussier, 2012).
Management skills have been incorporated in the theory of emotional intelligence consisting of several abilities such as self-control, motivation and the capacity to comprehend other peoples’ expressive and behavioral signals.
