Introduction
Most practitioners and academic have raised concern about leadership, management strategies and how they impact on organizational structure. In fact, most researchers and academics believe that leadership, management skill and culture have a significant influence on the performance, competency and profitability of all organizations (Barker et al, 2006). However, the extent to which this idea is true is yet to be verified or proven (Kavanagh, 2006). Presently, with the evolving competitive business environment, there is need to have effective leadership and management strategies to ensure good performance and efficiency of any given organization. The following paper will describe the aspects of leadership, change management strategies and how they impact on the organization culture. The paper will also identify one method that could be used to collect data used to explore the topic.
Leadership, change and organization culture
To better understand the topic, it is necessary to first explore and describe the aspects of organization culture, leadership and change. Leadership, one of the most important components of organization management, refers to the process of influencing people by helping or supporting them to accomplish a certain task. In the context of business management, effective leadership is essential in directing the employees to achieve the objective of the organization and ensuring efficiency and good performance of the business (Kavanagh, 2006).
Organizational culture, also important in the success of the business, refers to the values and norms adopted by the employees of a particular organization. However, initially, various scholars described organizational culture as a set of manners accepted and supported within an organization. Change management strategy refers to the organized approach for adjusting the use of certain tools or processes in a project or during the implementation of a new program within an organization.
Evidence shows that leadership and change of management strategies have a great influence on the organizational culture (Kavanagh, 2006). Firstly, we know that leaders have the greatest influence on managing a business because they are the people responsible for setting the organization goals and identifying appropriate actions that need to be implemented in order to achieve the set objectives. Leaders also play a key role in changing the management strategies within the organization. With this in mind, we can say that, organizational culture and leadership are closely linked in the change process (Kavanagh, 2006).
Corporate leaders may define an elastic organizational culture by simply favoring change and encouraging continuous learning of the employees (Kavanagh, 2006). This creates a favorable working environment which allows the employees to express their opinions freely, thus leading to high productivity. Moreover, leaders are perceived to have a significant influence on the assumptions and cultural norms of the employees within the organization (Van & Hogg, 2003). In addition, good leaders, through interpersonal skills and instrumental roles, are able to foster change of management strategies thus defining the organizational culture.
Data collection
Quantitative data used to examine the impact of leadership and change management strategy would be collected through questionnaires. Questionnaires would be helpful to gather and later analyze the views of the employees regarding leadership and culture within the organization. For instance, the employees wo...
