The greatest objective of any business is to generate sales and profits and realize growth in the long-term. To achieve this, an organization has to communicate the benefits of their product offering to their customers. In essence, marketing team need to promote the business products effectively. Promotion aids besides, informing about a product, to build a brand loyalty, remind, and reassure customers or even to defend a market share (Sunday & Bayode, 2011). In addition, promotion is useful when a business is launching a new product. The Burger King should utilize a range of promotional strategies in direct marketing to inform about their new health menu product. In this way, it is possible to influence their marketing plans positively.
Customers, both retailers, and wholesalers, undergo six stages in product awareness. These phases include; Unawareness of product, Awareness of product, Interest in product, Desire for product, Conviction about value of product, and purchases of product (Sunday & Bayode, 2011). Burger King's new sandwich product is unknown to customers. Therefore, in promoting the product, they have to consider these phases of product awareness.
Direct marketing is the act of direct communication with institutional or individual customer with an aim of response generation (in the form of a direct order, information request or traffic creation). Primarily, promotional techniques in direct marketing are telephone marketing, direct mail, radio, daily press television, and radio among other means (Dogan, 2013). Burger’s marketing team can use several of tactics in their endeavor. I would recommend distribution of advertising materials highlighting the new product and its healthy benefits. Research shows this method is efficient in connecting with the retail market (Dogan, 2013). For instance, this food outlet could start mailing Postcards, as they are a popular means of direct marketing. They are cheaper to mail and crucial in generating leads. With catchy headlines like "Recover your Health with Burger's New Sandwich," they can appeal to many direct customers. Besides, I would advocate the use of TV commercials concurrently with the distribution of these materials as in this manner; people remember large portions of the promotion message. (Dogan, 2013).
