Yahoo should continue providing user data to China despite the risks involved. If Yahoo cut short her services, then the Chinese will respond by duplicating the services. The company should consider doing away with all restrictions imposed by the Chinese government. Moreover, Yahoo should strategically position herself within the market. This means that the company should be flexible enough. If the company manages to lure the market, then it will successfully eliminate potential data providers who aspire to seize its huge market. The company managers should find the most suitable way of working around the authorities. At first, it is prudent for the firm to attain confidence of the authorities before suggesting its intended changes and modifications (Hickey, 2007).
In today's business world, change is inevitable. One thing that is driving change really fast is technological advancement. In order for change to yield benefits to the intended persons, it must be involving. This means that Yahoo should instill the much intended change from within and through involvement and participation. This process is normally slow but profitable. It doesn't make any business sense for any person to abdicate the firm's power to advance change. This issue would be so simple if the other US conglomerates operating within China are more organized; since they would all join hands to force the change that they need (Amnesty international uk, 2006).
In any business environment, it is prudent to support the governing authority and comply with the set up rules and regulations.
