Abstract
I am interested in public relations and hence would like be a public relations officer. The salary scale is in the range of 45000-85000 dollars. I would prefer a package of about sixty thousand dollars. This is based on the fact that most firms with existing job offers are offering averagely the same amount. Moreover, the work input is huge and should be directly related to my salary figure. I will use my negotiation skills to put my case forward and hope the board will accept my proposal.
I am worth sixty thousand dollars, based on the current market valuation. Given that the lowest pay is approximately forty thousand, while the highest is eight thousand dollars, the average pay is around sixty which is just the same amount I would need. This is also influenced by the high cost of living which could be unbearable with a lower package than the one I have requested (Glassdoor, 2014).
Moreover, i have exceptional skills that are handy for a company. I am creative, have a good rapport with people and I can work long hours with minimal supervision. It is normal that employees are to be paid according to how much they input in their work. With the long hours that are to be invested in my work, I believe a good pay should accompany it. Hence sixty thousand is just directly proportional to the amount of work input.
How To Negotiate For The Salary.
During the negotiation, I will be humble in front of the managers. I will confidently explain my case explain why I need that amount clearly stating the reasons. I will focus more on how the company will gain from having my services than on how much the company will use in paying for my services (Dawson, 2006).
I will also quote a higher value than what I am expecting to receive, for example seventy thousand. Ordinarily, there should be some rejections from the company and people tend to negotiate for fair deals for both parties. While trying to negotiate with me, the value could be reduced, to say 60, 0000 (Udu, 2006). This is just roughly what my target is, hence this would be successful.
