Staffing is an important function in organization particularly because the manager of any organization can make sure that his workplace is running efficiently and smoothly through the “effective staff management.” According to McQuerrey (2015), “Employees who are well-managed and receive continuing training and evaluation are better prepared to do their jobs and to serve your customers. It can lead to better profits, more satisfied clients and an increase in repeat business” (p.n.d). This paper is about the importance of staffing. It will also discuss the ways managers can adapt to changes in the external environment to recruit and maintain quality personnel.
The owner of a small organization is usually responsible for staffing management. Nevertheless, some organizations mainly deal with staffing management such as Costco and Macy’s, Disneyland. These organizations have Human Resource Department (HRD) that is also known as “personal department.” According to Mishra and Akman (2010), one of the important conductions that managers should adapt to hire or recruit the quality personals is the resources. An organization is dependent upon the availability of certain external resources to maintain its operations and productivity at the highest level.
Participation of adequately skilled employees at several levels can take the organization at best competes over the period. But, if the demand for specific skill drops, supply in a long run, it adversely affects the entity because it becomes very hard to obtain highly skilled new employees on time (Mishra & Akman, 2010).
